Yoga Aid supports a small number of charities in each country, with an emphasis on local charities

Since 1989, Trees for the Future has been helping communities around the world plant trees. Through seed distribution, agroforestry training, and our country programs, we have empowered rural groups to restore tree cover to their lands. Planting trees protects the environment and helps to preserve traditional livelihoods and cultures for generations.

Our mission and history demonstrate how dedicated we are to sustainable agroforestry.

Uses three fundamental aspects of yoga to create lasting change in African communities: Unity, Possibility and Non-Violence. Hundreds of students in Kenya and Nairobi, many of whom have been personally affected by HIV/AIDS and living on less than $2 per day have had the opportunity to develop their lives, communities and livelihoods by participating in the activities of the Africa Yoga Project.
Widereaching and inclusive, the project introduces young people to the balancing practice of yoga but also provides educational scholaships, job training, food stipends and housing and health services. Their inspiring work promotes peace, community, wellness and hope for those in need.

Community Outreach Initiatives: Each Year BaliSpirit Festival chooses community projects to support.  For 2010, the Festival plans to support HIV/AIDS awareness projects
in rural Balinese villages, as well as continue working towards a greener Bali with Yayasan Tri Hita Karana, based in Pejeng, Ubud.

Established in 1997, Camp Moomba is a specialized summer camp program for kids age 6—17 who are impacted by HIV/AIDS. Many of the children that attend Camp Moomba are confronted by similar issues in their lives, many live
in difficult socio-economic situations. By coming together each year they are able to find the type of support that can only come from understanding.

“Moomba” is an Australian Aboriginal word that means “join together to have fun” and forms our camp’s philosophy: Friends Together Having Fun.
